What is the Eternity Koa and Abalone Pendant in Black?
A dramatic take on our Eternity Pendant — abalone (the ocean) inlaid opposite curly Hawaiian Koa wood (the aina), set in a black PVD-coated stainless steel frame. The black finish makes the abalone's iridescence and the Koa grain pop. Laid flat, the shape resembles a stylized infinity symbol. 1.75" x 3/8" pendant on a 23" chain.
Is the pendant life-proof and waterproof?
Yes — designed life-proof from day one. The Koa wood inlay is sealed under a clear epoxy resin that locks out water, sweat, sunscreen, and daily wear. The frame is surgical-grade stainless steel — hypoallergenic and corrosion-proof. Shower, swim, and live in it. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater and dry. The black PVD finish is baked in, not a coating that rubs off.
What makes Pono jewelry different from other Koa pieces?
Everything you see here was drawn up on my desk here in Honolulu, so you won't find our designs anywhere else. I love to take inspiration from the beauty and culture that surrounds us here.
What's special about the Hawaiian Koa wood?
We use only the most rare and beautiful "curly" grained Koa from the Big Island of Hawaii — the tightest curl density is what makes the wood look like it's moving in the light. Pictures really can't do it justice. I waited 10 years for the current log of curly Koa. The wood is sustainably harvested from dead or dying trees on private land — no live-tree harvesting — and hand-finished in our shop in Honolulu.

I love the koa and abalone combination on the black stainless steel pendant and how they glimmer in the light. I have an allergy to sterling silver and nickel, so having the stainless steel option is very nice. The size and weight of the pendant is very well balanced and isn't too heavy when worn. I've gotten many compliments, so I've bought a couple more in different colors and styles (the black dog tag style with mother of pearl and the silver pendant with mother of pearl, since I really like the pono woodworking designs with the gorgeous wood that is KOA!

When emailed about this issue, there was never a reply back. Fast/free shipping? Yeah right. Glad I paid extra for slow shipping. Sorry I mean for an item that never shipped.
