What is the Latitude's Collection Hibiscus Koa Necklace?
A pendant necklace from our Latitudes Collection featuring the hibiscus flower — Hawaii's state flower — hand-drawn and overlaid on curly Hawaiian Koa wood. The pendant is a stylized water-droplet shape with a wave-crashing top that holds the chain. On the back we engrave our logo along with the latitude and longitude of Hawaii. 1.25" x 0.75" pendant on an 18" chain.
Is the pendant life-proof and waterproof?
Yes — designed life-proof from day one. The Koa wood inlay is sealed under a clear epoxy resin that locks out water, sweat, sunscreen, and daily wear. The frame is surgical-grade stainless steel — hypoallergenic and corrosion-proof. Shower, swim, and live in it. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater and dry.
What makes Pono jewelry different from other Koa pieces?
Everything you see here was drawn up on my desk here in Honolulu, so you won't find our designs anywhere else. I love to take inspiration from the beauty and culture that surrounds us here.
What's special about the Hawaiian Koa wood?
We use only the most rare and beautiful "curly" grained Koa from the Big Island of Hawaii — the tightest curl density is what makes the wood look like it's moving in the light. Pictures really can't do it justice. I waited 10 years for the current log of curly Koa. The wood is sustainably harvested from dead or dying trees on private land — no live-tree harvesting — and hand-finished in our shop in Honolulu.

Far beyond my expectations. The turtle is used to represent recovery from CIDP disease. I wanted a gift to thank my wife for her support and I honestly think the beauty of this necklace will say it all. Excellent communication and tracking. Nice display box and not just thrown in a bag. You can definitely enjoy a sharing beautiful necklace for someone or get one for yourself. The wood and silver are beautifully polished.

Necklace is nice but the wood has slight discoloration on right side and there’s a slight gap at top between wood and stainless steel. Other than that it’s nice and the stainless steel has weight and is sleek.

Ordering the product was easy enough. We spent 4 to 6 months in Hawaii every year and this was a piece of jewelry that was different than what we normally see. A birthday gift. Well received very much appreciated. The chain however, ended up in a bottom drawer cast aside with the rest of the jewelry chains that did not make the cut. Now on a nice serpentine silver chain and all is well.

Bought this for my girlfriend’s birthday. She loves jewelry and thought this necklace had a unique design to it. The pendant is so comically small (provided a picture of its actual size) it almost defies belief. The chain is also so small that it might fit an infant, but only if they have a skinny neck, (again included a photo). The close-up photo is the one Pono advertises. Compare that photo with the actual look of the real thing and judge if it’s even close (newsflash….its not). Big let down, especially for the price.

While the actual koa wood piece was beautiful, the chain was small, flimsy, and hard to open. I’m probably going to return it.
Well that's a bummer. That chain for those pendants is designed to be relatively dainty.. it's more on the feminine side. If you want something a bit more beefy, the dog tag and eternity pendant have a much thicker chain. Hope that helps..

I am often skeptical about purchases online because the picture is often much better than the product I receive. Not in this case, I was extremely surprised when I opened my order and it was better than the picture made it out to be. I fell in love with sea turtles on a trip to the Galapagos Islands when I had the opportunity to snorkel and follow a group of sea turtles. It has taken me 8yrs to find something that reminds me of that experience, the Latitude's collection Honu Koa Necklace does just that. Thank you Pono Woodworks, I'll be back for more!!

I wish to return a pendant I bought that my wife does not want, and I've tried both chat and email with no response. I don't believe the "no hassle returns" line. My wife has three other Pano items that she loves, but four are too many.

the pendant is not the same as the ad, close but not quiet it and the most disappointing is that the chain is not the same as in the ad. it's a very different cheap chain
