The Waterman Koa wood watch has finally surfaced...breath deep or maybe gasp...it's pretty sweet. The original Hawaiian Watermen used koa to make outrigger canoes, surfboards, and sailing canoes...pretty much everything we love about being on the water. The Waterman was inspired by these ideals of a life lived best on and around the water. It's Hawaiian time, redefined.
The design concept was to pay homage to the ancient Hawaiian watermen by incorporating elements a modern waterman could appreciate. The lugs are stylized longboard fins with fcs type screws on the side. Of course we color matched the turnable bezel to the color of the Pacific Ocean at my favorite spot outside of Kona. Drawing from the same spot, the Gunmetal color is matched to the old lava fields that meander to meet the ocean while the rounded shape draws from the lava rock beach stones. The crowns shape is inspired by the winches on a sailboat and is inset to prevent rubbing on your hand. Finally, our best "curly" grained Koa wood, hand finished in our shop in Honolulu, ensures the face becomes the crowning jewel.
We design our wood watches and hand finish the Koa wood in our small shop in Honolulu. We've focused on small batch production so we can guarantee the best quality while providing a wood watch that is truly unique and rare. We use only the most amazing "curly" grained Koa from the Big Island...the most rare, beautiful, and expensive. We encase our Koa in an equally worthy case using a stainless body, sapphire crystal scratch proof glass, Japanese movement and butterfly clasp.
I have still not received the watch and am disappointed because it is an anniversary gift :(
The watchband is a little confusing at first, but once you figure it out it is solid and high quality.
Long-awaited precious memories arrived
I will use it carefully for a long time.
Aloha spirit forever!
Very gourgous watch love it not a cheaply made watch keep up the good work. I recommend this watch.
When the watch was finally delivered (all our packages were late this holiday season, no worries) I gave it to my fiance for Christmas. He absolutely loved it! We had only visited Hawaii twice, but we instantly fell in love with Hawaii's people, the land, the ocean, the food and with each other. This watch is the epitome of Hawaii's natural essence. The koa wood grain is stunning and matches so well with the blue trim around the face. My fiance loved being able to see the phases of the moon on the watch as well! The watch is incredibly handsome on him: it is elegant, stylish and sporty. Worth every penny I saved for this gift from Hawaii!
