The Waterman Koa wood watch has finally surfaced...breath deep or maybe gasp...it's pretty sweet. The original Hawaiian Watermen used koa to make outrigger canoes, surfboards, and sailing canoes...pretty much everything we love about being on the water. The Waterman was inspired by these ideals of a life lived best on and around the water. It's Hawaiian time, redefined.
Stainless Steel, PVD Coated (Gunmetal Version)

The design concept was to pay homage to the ancient Hawaiian watermen by incorporating elements a modern waterman would appreciate...and most anyone else I might add : ). The lugs are stylized longboard fins with fcs type screws on the side. Yes, the second hand is shaped like a paddle and the ocean waves flow beneath the moon-phase window. Of course we color matched the turnable bezel to the color of the Pacific Ocean at my favorite spot outside of Kona. The rounded shape draws from the lava rock beach stones found around Maui and the Big Island. The crowns shape is inspired by the winches on a sailboat and is inset to prevent rubbing on your hand. Finally, our best "curly" grained Koa wood, hand finished in our shop in Honolulu, ensures the face becomes the crowning jewel.
Koa only grows in the Hawaiian islands and we use only the most rare and beautiful "curly" grained Koa. It gives an iridescence and movement to the wood. We hand finish all the wood in our small shop in Honolulu which ensures the face becomes the crowning jewel
We design our wood watches and hand finish the Koa wood in our small shop in Honolulu. We've focused on small batch production so we can guarantee the best quality while providing a wood watch that is truly unique and rare. We use only the most amazing "curly" grained Koa from the Big Island...the most rare, beautiful, and expensive. We encase our Koa in an equally worthy case using a stainless body, sapphire crystal scratch proof glass, Japanese movement and butterfly clasp.
Here's a few more pics from every conceivable missing angle to wet your appetite.
Sizing...The Waterman is a 47mm case. This fits most everyone's wrists without looking too big. It certainly won't be mistaken for a small watch but also won't look ridiculously rapper-esque big either.
No Worries!! We wouldn't leave you hanging. We're way too small to have angry customers. If something's not quite right...we'll make it right on our dime...whether you want to replace or return.
I bought this way early for an anniversary gift for my husband. I can hardly wait to give it to him! Great quality, coloring is beautiful!
This will be my husband’s 5th Pono watch. Unfortunately he lost 2 in a recent move so I’m planning to replace the lost watches. He loves the quality, style and uniqueness of these watches and gets compliments every time he wears one.
Can’t wait to see the next design!
Absolutely love the watch! I spent a couple of weeks in Hawaii touring several islands...ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! This watch is a reminder of that trip ( along with a shark tattoo) with its breathtakingly unique design and the meaning behind every facet of the watch. Mahalo Pono Woodworks for a job well done.
Purchased this watch as a gift for my son and he loved it especially the koa wood in the band.
While officiating my God Daughter’s wedding on Kauai, they gifted me a Pono Waterman. It is a beautiful watch, fits perfectly, and I really like the bank color. I have other watches with a butterfly clasp, but was unable to successfully put together. I clicked the email link on their website (a Sunday morning), and received a response with video link same day. Impressive! A wonderful gift introduced me to a terrific experience with the company!
