What is the Tungsten Koa Wood Ring (Round Profile)?
Our best-selling tungsten koa ring with a smooth round outer profile — the classic wedding-band silhouette. Curly Hawaiian Koa wood inlay in a scratchproof tungsten body. Comfort-fit interior for all-day wear. Available in 6mm and 8mm widths.
What is tungsten?
Tungsten is 6x harder than titanium — essentially scratch-proof, doesn't tarnish, and is hypoallergenic. It's the perfect base metal for a ring you'll wear every day for decades. The trade-off: tungsten shatters under extreme impact (like a hammer strike). That's a feature, not a bug — it protects your finger. In 12 years of making them, we've had less than 10 come back cracked…and of course we replace them for free.
Is the ring waterproof?
Yes — fully waterproof for everyday wear. The Koa wood inlay is sealed within the ring which protects it against moisture. Safe for showering, swimming, dishes, and daily water exposure. For extended saltwater exposure, rinse with fresh water afterward and dry.
What sizes do you offer?
US sizes 4.5 through 13, including half sizes. If you're between sizes, size up — Koa wood does not stretch. Free size exchanges on all rings. If you're new to ring sizing, visit any jeweler for a professional measurement.
What's the difference between the Round Profile and Beveled Edge Tungsten rings?
Both share the same scratchproof tungsten body, curly Hawaiian Koa inlay, and lifetime warranty. The difference is the outer shape:
• Round Profile — a smooth continuous curve on the outer edge, the classic wedding-band look.
• Beveled Edge — a subtle angled cut on the outer edge that catches light differently, more modern feel.
Both wear the same on the finger (comfort-fit). Purely an aesthetic preference.
Can I return the ring if the size doesn't fit?
Yes — free size exchanges on all rings. If your ring doesn't fit, contact us and we'll send a replacement in the correct size. The Koa wood inlay makes ring sizing a bit trickier than plain metal rings (Koa doesn't resize), so we designed the exchange process to be painless.
Is the Koa wood in the ring sustainably sourced?
Yes. All Pono Woodworks Koa comes from dead or dying trees on private land on the Big Island — no live-tree harvesting. Only curly-grade Koa (less than 1% of available Koa) is used. Sourcing this way supports Hawaiian forest health and provides income to ranchers who protect old-growth stands.
What makes Pono Koa Rings better than all the other wood rings available?
We started the tungsten Koa ring trend and still make the best. There's plenty of copy cats that don't use Hawaiian Koa wood (even here in Hawaii)…they usually use wood from Australia that looks similar. We can identify where our wood was harvested down to a couple hundred feet on the Big Island. We don't just use any Koa Wood, I waited 10 years for the current batch of curly Koa. The density of curl and depth of light shine just does not become available often.

I purchased a rounded Tungsten/Curly Koa 8mm ring from the Koa Store on Kaua’i. I ordered the Koa wood 8mm ring for my husband for our 20th anniversary. I wasn’t exactly sure on the size but it fit perfectly! My husband is a former carpenter and so I wanted to get him a wedding ring for our anniversary that somehow incorporated wood. This is GORGEOUS. BEYOND gorgeous. The wood sparkles, I wish I could explain it but you have to see it to believe it. Very special and very well made. Just a note, I ordered it to Canada and did have to pay an additional 60 dollars CAD at the door thanks to the tarrifs, so if you decide to order and you're up north, keep that in mind. Thank you!
