The Waterman Koa Wood Watch (36mm, gunmetal)

Regular price$250.00

The Waterman Koa wood watch has finally surfaced...breath deep or maybe gasp...it's pretty sweet.  The original Hawaiian watermen used koa to make outrigger canoes, surfboards, and sailing canoes...pretty much everything we love about being on the water.

  • Hawaiian "curly" grained Koa face (from the Big Island, Hawaii)
  • Japanese Movement, Sapphire Crystal (scratch proof), Stainless
  • Silicone Waterproof Band w/ Butterfly Clasp
  • Water resistant to 330 feet (that should keep you busy)
  • 1 Year Full NO-HASSLE Warranty...no worries, we've got you covered
  • 36mm diameter, 10mm thick, 18mm band
  • Free and Fast Shipping and Returns

The design concept was to pay homage to the original watermen and women by incorporating elements a modern waterman would appreciate.  The size is perfect for either men or women. The lugs are surfboard fin shape with fcs screws on the side. The chrome against the wood is reminiscent of the brightwork on a yacht. Finally, our best "curly" grained Koa wood, hand finished in our shop in Honolulu, ensures the face becomes the crowning jewel.  You can learn more about the process HERE.

Beyond the aesthetic design, I really wanted to create a wood watch for women and men that never had to be taken off.  The crown is inset the maximum amount to prevent rubbing on your wrist. The silicone band will stand up to whatever you throw at it and looks at home in board shorts or a suit.  If you decide to take it off, the quick deployment clasp makes it easy without the need to resize the watch. Our strategy seems to be working as we've received 40 out of 42, 5 star reviews (the other two were 4 star).

Koa Wood only grows in the Hawaiian Islands and was once reserved for Hawaiian Royalty.  It was used to create the first outrigger canoes, ukulele, Hawaiian weapons, and the first solid wood surfboards.  It is a wood of exploration and the cultural heart of the Hawaiian Islands.

Beautiful midsized watch

Saw the Pono Woodworks watches while on Maui and loved the look. Then I researched them online—mainly to find the specifications. A bit tough to find the midsize 36mm watch, but succeeded at the third shop I tried. Beautiful Koa wood face, Japanese quartz movement (Miyota, I believe) and sapphire crystal- under $250 retail. Not a fan of deployant type straps, though the strap is very nice quality, it was a bit too long for my 6.25” wrist. Once home, I popped the watch onto a ColaReb leather strap, and it looks great! More midsize watches please!

My husband loves the watch!

The first watch that I bought was a little small for my husbands wrist. Brett was wonderful to work with and got a new watch out as well as a return label in such a timely manner (especially over the holidays). My husband loves the watch and everyone comments about how cool it is. He wears it dressed up to work each day but also loves it when we are out diving. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking of purchasing this watch!

Wonderful watch

I have a small wrist for a guy. OK, I have a small wrist for anybody, but I still wanted a stylish watch I could wear paddleboarding. This watch is great in the water. It's a little heavier than some watches, but feels good on your wrist and the koa wood is gorgeous.

Great watch!! Very comfortable and well made.
